International Manhunt Ends in France with Capture of Hernando County Child Molestation Suspect
BAYONNE, FRANCE – Daniel St. Pierre, a 59-year-old Canadian citizen wanted by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, was arrested Thursday by French authorities in Bayonne, France. St. Pierre faces multiple charges related to the sexual molestation of a minor in Hernando County, Florida.
Officials say St. Pierre was out on pre-trial release when, in July 2025, he allegedly violated his release terms by removing a court-ordered monitoring device. Florida’s Fifth Judicial Circuit then issued a felony warrant for his arrest. A subsequent investigation by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office determined he had fled the United States and returned to Canada, prompting a request for assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service.
An extensive international search followed, involving the U.S. Marshals Service – Middle District of Florida, the agency’s Office of International Operations, INTERPOL, and French authorities. The coordinated effort spanned several countries, including the United States, Canada, Portugal, and France.
St. Pierre was ultimately located and taken into custody in Bayonne without incident. He is awaiting extradition to the United States, where, if convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum of 25 years in prison.
Authorities have not released further information pending extradition proceedings.
